Voting for the Northwoods Children’s Museum is still going on! Kids can pick three of their favorite exhibits and we’ll be taking that feedback into account going forward. If you haven’t read our article analyzing the first week’s voting results, you can do so here! We’ve gathered the second week of voters and added those results to the first, leading to the graph above.
Of course, the question is, how do these compare to last week’s results? Let’s take a look!
The first thing of note is that the Fishing Pond and New Time Grocery Store are still in first and second place, now with 24 and 22 respectively. There’s a good reason they’ve maintained their popularity, as we talked about last time! However, past that, the results are almost completely different.
Our Art Studio and Magnet Wall (which are part of the same exhibit) have pulled ahead of the competition, tying in second place with 22 votes as well! We love to encourage kids’ creativity, and the Art Studio is one of the best places to do that, with all sorts of materials and options for kids to unleash their inner artist. There are coloring sheets if they’d prefer to keep it simple, and for more complex options we have things like craft wire or fabric! The Magnet Wall is right next to the art tables, and has several different magnetic tiles and magnet men to play with. On top of that, if you’d like your kid to take home a special souvenir, the Art Studio has our Spray-A-Shirt station. For just $10, you can get a shirt that your kid can spray paint themselves!
Fire Safety, our previous exhibit tied for 3rd, is now definitively in 3rd place with 19 votes. However, the exhibit it was tied with, the Reading Tree, has been overtaken by so many exhibits - there’s a 5-way tie of 17 votes between the Bubble Station, Shadow Room, Cozy Cottage, Old Time Grocery Store, and Pioneer Cabin; and our Campfire exhibit has 16. And even with all of that, the Reading Tree is still tied with Grandma’s Attic at 15 votes! Amazing how things can change in a single week, isn’t it?
But what about the exhibits in last place, the three that didn’t get any votes last time? Did they get any votes? I’m happy to say that two of them did! The Bird House received 2 votes, and the Outdoor Garden received 3! The Bird House’s lack of votes is made up for by Pioneer Cabin’s high placement, and the Outdoor Garden getting any votes at all is great since it’s only open during the summer! Bird Identification still doesn’t have any votes, but it’s just an exhibit painted on the wall, so it’s pretty out of the way and easy to miss. The three exhibits are still in last place, but this still better reflects our philosophy of every exhibit being somebody’s favorite... almost. Sorry, Bird Identification!
Is there any other data worth talking about? Well, our Body Moving Midway exhibit, formerly stuck with a measly 2 votes, rocketed all the way up to 13 votes! This is almost certainly due to the changes we made to it recently, which you can read more about in this article. We hope to make future exhibits better in the same manner so that they’ll be consistent favorites as well!
If you’d like to go here, whether it be to vote or to check out some of the exhibits in this article, come stop by the Northwoods Children’s Museum! We’re open 6 days a week, from 10 AM-5 PM on Monday-Friday and 10 AM-3 PM on Saturdays. You can find more details here! We hope to see you there!
