The Northwoods Children’s Museum proudly announces the launch of our "Power of Play" (POP) campaign, marking our 25th anniversary with a renewed commitment to childhood development and family enrichment in our community. Inspired by Mr. Rogers' timeless wisdom that "Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning, but for children, play IS serious learning," our campaign underscores the essential role of play in fostering healthy brain development, crucial skills for learning, and early math concepts.
In today's digital age, children are increasingly immersed in screens, which can hinder their imagination and impact their physical and emotional health. Studies show a decline in physical play contributes to childhood obesity, social interaction challenges, classroom behavior issues, and elevated rates of childhood depression.
The Power of Play campaign aims to reinvigorate the importance of hands-on, interactive play. Funds raised will enhance our exhibits and play areas, ensuring they remain safe, stimulating, and accessible to all children. As a small-town museum with a big heart, we pride ourselves on being one of the smallest US towns with a vibrant children's museum, serving as a vital educational resource for families in Vilas and surrounding counties, where many live below the federal poverty line.
With a modest monthly operating budget of $25,000, community support is essential to sustaining our mission. Your contributions to the Power of Play campaign will enable us to upgrade facilities and exhibits, ensuring we continue to provide an enriching environment for children for years to come.
As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, we reflect on our history of enriching lives through play and look forward to continued growth with your generous support. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, donations to the Northwoods Children’s Museum are tax-deductible and directly support our commitment to enriching lives, supporting families, and encouraging a love of learning through interactive play.
